Iran – A Play on Words?

The Islamic Republic of Iran was once known as Persia.  However, in 1935, this name changed to Iran. In Persian, the word Iran translates into Land of the Aryans.  The official language of Iran is Persian or Farsi. Nevertheless, like many other countries, other languages are also spoken in the country.

Iraq – Biblical ties?

India - Records

The U.S. Census Bureau states that India is the second most populated country in the world and this is proceeded by China and followed by the United States.   Additionally, in India, you will find the largest postal network in the world and it is operated by the government.

Iceland – No “Surnames”

There are no “surnames” in this beautiful country. “Surnames” here comprises the first name of one or both of the parent’s first names with the “title” son or daughter added to it.   Therefore, usually, the children do not have the same last name as their parents.  It is the Nordic naming system.
