Tanzania was once named German East Africa, and the current name is based partly on the joining of the first three letters of the words Tanganyika and Zanzibar when they became one country in 1964.
The Ethiopian Calendar is different from the Gregorian Calendar and the latter is what most of the world goes by. The Ethiopian Calendar has thirteen months in a year, while the Gregorian one has twelve months. Currently, the year in Ethiopia is 2012.
