Syria – Jinwar; Women’s Land

In 2016, several female activists opened Jinwar.  Jinwar, which means women’s land, comprises more than thirty women and children in Syria.  It opened its doors in November 2016 as a safe place for only women and children to live.

The Guatemalan Quetzal is this country’s legal currency.   The word quetzal is from the country’s national bird, the Resplendent Quetzal.   Many years ago, the tail feathers of these beautiful birds were used as currency.
