Moldova – In 16 years

Moldova was formerly Moldavia.  In November 2016, Igor Dodon was elected as the President of the country.  This was the first time in sixteen years that the Head of State was chosen by the citizens and not Parliament.

Guatemala – Currency

The Guatemalan Quetzal is this country’s legal currency.   The word quetzal is from the country’s national bird, the Resplendent Quetzal.   Many years ago, the tail feathers of these beautiful birds were used as currency.
