Guinea - The Peul Princess

Katoucha Niane was born in Guinea on the 23rd of October 1960.  She was a model, actress and activist.  She was last seen alive on the 1st of February 2008.  Then on the 28th of February, her body was found in the Seine River where she lived, in a houseboat, in Paris, France.  Some people believed foul play took place, but the police did not think so.  She died at 47 years old.

Presently, the world’s tallest Equestrian Status is in Mongolia.  It is the Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue.  It was “unveiled” in 2008, and it cost millions in USD.  They built the statue out of steel, and it has an elevator to take visitors to the horse’s head, where they can see some of the country’s beautiful scenery.

Many countries around the world are advising their citizens not to visit Burkina Faso, at this time, unless it is an essential trip. It is mainly due to the unrest in the country. The is a country faced with many troubles. Citizens and visitors alike are being killed, yet travellers ignore these government-issued advisories and go headlong into the country.  In December 2018, the government here declared a state of emergency for specific places in the country. And earlier this year, they extended this emergency by six months. In January 2019, the Prime Minister and his cabinet quit.
