A Review On The Cookbook - What's Cooking in Guyana

This book is packed with recipes for which both the beginner and the seasoned chief will be happy. Yes, it speaks of the many foods and appetites of the citizens of this country too!

These recipes will certainly bring back childhood memories for those who would have migrated to other parts of the world, and a bit of homesickness may creep in. Nevertheless, preparing these meals will bring some comfort.

The book also has a bit of informative information about the Carnegie school, and the Home Economic section will be useful.

However, the only downside to this book, if indeed it has a downside, is that it does not have a glossary. A glossary would have certainly been helpful since words such as Callaloo and Boulanger are not universal. Nevertheless, a reader can find out what these items are through various means such as a Web search.

Indeed, the book has lived up to its title, What’s Cooking in Guyana.

Note: You can check out the glossary of some of the words used in this book at my website by clicking on this link https://sites.google.com/site/jillylinton/the-cookbook-what-s-cooking-in-guyana Thanks.

Perhaps due to sharing governmental powers, this country also shares the postal system.  France’s post boxes in this country are yellow, while Spain’s are red.

Recommendation: Family Time Food

For quite some time now, it has been suggested that family members are not spending time together at the dinner table. One of the reasons for this is the busy schedule of family members. Consequently, there is not enough time to prepare anything to eat. Therefore, instead of cooking meals at home, it is ordered from a restaurant. The following books contain quick and easy to prepare meals and desserts/snacks that the entire family will enjoy. After trying a recipe or two, let me know how it went.                                                                                   ...
