Tajikistan – Public Affection

In August of 2017, a police officer was fired. His boss was relegated to a lower position because the officer stopped and questioned a couple for kissing in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.  In October last year, a few taxi drivers in Dushanbe posted “signs” banning hugs and kisses in the taxis.

Guatemala – Currency

The Guatemalan Quetzal is this country’s legal currency.   The word quetzal is from the country’s national bird, the Resplendent Quetzal.   Many years ago, the tail feathers of these beautiful birds were used as currency.
